Hands down, Jay-Z has been the guiding factor to my decisions in Hip Hop. So when you discuss Jay-Z you are discussing Euro P. Gold as well as many other rappers, even if they choose not to mention their idolization of him. Ironically, when I started writing rhymes Jay released Blueprint. I define Blueprint as the album that coached me. It led to my infatuation with samples; although I always liked them that album kind of solidified the need for them. It also showed me that if I was to do an album it would have to be as classical as the Blueprint.

To continue the irony as I dropped my first Album, Jay releases another Blueprint, which in my opinion is as good as the first Blueprint. However, I feel like I am on track with my music, according to Jay's Blueprints.

The Blueprint 3 contains some of the same elements that Blueprint 1 contained. The lyrical track that deals with females (Girls, Girls, Girls/Venus v. Mars). The track that just tells rappers I am the best (You Don’t Know/Already Home). The street single that peaks into the commercial audience (Izzo/Run This Town). The only difference is the production. Jay combines production of both Blueprints to create a supercharged album that still guides the new school. Causing us to still ask ourselves, "Where were you when the Blueprint 3 dropped?", even if it didn't drop on 9/11.

"Explanation"
This song is inspired by my surroundings. When TeK played this beat for me, I knew it would be a grim record. The guitar in this song is crying the same tears that I cry when I see our living conditions.

The overall concept of the song is that you have to grind. You have to change your starts and not let society or any other factor change you or take you off of your path. It also saying that all info and advice is not the best. you must pick and choose wisely.

In Verse one I tell a story of my relationship with a kid that I mentor. This is a true story...I never took him to Hampton but I explain college life to him explicitly whenever we build and his focus is more on partying and bullshitting. A true part of college life but not the main objective.

Verse two is inspired by a conversation I had with my mans baby Moms and I kinda just took it somewhere else as I wrote. Its not reality to me but I know for a fact that it has happened to so many of our women that it needed to be addressed.

Verse three is my message to all of the aspiring. Not just artist but anyone who wants to be somebody. The dude I talk about in the song is me before I actually assessed my talent and realized that I was the one holding my key to success. Which is the reason why the file is titled success.

Coming in at # 13 its a tie between The Roots and State Property.
For some it may be easy to take The Roots over State Property but you don't know how much the two effected my life. Honestly the tie was truly over Beans and Black Thought and in an effort to break the tie I had a listening session and realized that both groups are really what made both artist.

I will forever love The Roots for bieng different. Teaching me how to chose my production wisely, Black teaching me how to ride a beat, ?uest teaching me how to take from my influences and make them my own.

I will forever love State Property for being themselves too. Never toning down there raw sound or image and telling the world what a true Philly Nigga is like. From Black on Both Sides to The New Danger to True Magic and now the Ecastic Mos has showed me how to remain true to myself and still connect to the truest essence of Hip Hop. I call Black on Both Sides the album that turned me on to concise Hip Hop. That album had me at Toby Farms Elementary School looking at the Rawkus Records Site consuming as much Hip Hop as I could during out 10 minute free time period. Till this day "Umi Says" is still one of 5 songs I can listen to and calm me down and motivate me. The Boogie Man Mixtape is classic. Ms. Fat Booty showed me how to tell stories from a concise side. Summer has been very shitty musically but its a few mixtapes and one album that I am feeling. Wale Back to the Feature is by far an Epic event. I wish I could have been on it. 9th straps him with some essentials I am really looking froward to his album. It crazy cuz last summer Wale gave me a crack mixtape that had me in the crib like "What The Fuck", now that its a year in the making I recognize his progress. I hope I can achieve that type of growth by next summer.

I am calling this song my Alma Mater. The Dilla inspired beat brings out my inner PA Rapper. I remember grunting when I recorded it the first time. It has been re done be I decided to put it out the way it is just so people could see what I am dealing with and where it was recorded. 4th Floor Harkness Hall Hampton University. Production wise I couldn't have asked for a more dramatic beat to paint the picture of a middle class black male dealing with life as it is thrown at him.
